Conrad Rockenhaus, a Tor operator based out of Michigan, United States, was arrested in 2020 after refusing to cooperate with the United States Federal Bureau of Investigation

Rockenhaus, a disabled United States military veteran, ran the fastest Tor node in the United States. He was approached sometime in late 2019 when the FBI requested he allow them arbitrary access to his exit node and allow them to decrypt traffic. He denied their request.

Subsequently, in February, 2020 his home was raided. He was arrested for violating the CFAA (Computer Fraud and Abuse Act). It was alleged that he was a disgruntled ex-employee causing problems at his former place of employment.

Interestingly, to "help resolve the matter", law enforcement requested he decrypt his Tor exit node to prove his innocence (???). After he refused, he was held in a pre-trial detention cell for over 3 years. He was denied bail after law enforcement stated Mr. Rockenhaus used Linux to "access the dark web" and he was "not complying" and not allowing them access to this Tor exit node.

After Mr. Rockenhaus' wife filed an official complaint, and Mr. Rockenhaus was miraculously released, he was raided by the United States Marshal Fugitive Task Force TWO TIMES(???).

They took him out his home, threw him to the ground, beat him, smashed his windows, and threatened to murder his animals.

They are still requesting Mr. Rockenhaus allow them to access his Tor exit node. Mr. Rockenhaus still has not granted them that privilege.

All of this has been captured on home security camera footage. Additionally, his wife has released all court documents.

⚡️❌ READ - Many people think that XRP is a shitcoin.

At first glance, this seems to be the case, and any self-respecting person would stay as far away from this token as possible.

But it's only by studying it more seriously that we can get a better perspective on this token and understand just how much of a shitcoin it really is.

XRP isn't just another shitcoin. It's one of the worst shitcoins ever, despite being promoted as a "useful" and "revolutionary" technology.

So if you haven't done your own research (lack of time, lack of inclination ...), here are 10 reasons why you don't hate XRP enough:

1) The network is centralized (this is false decentralization):

Although anyone can become an XRP validator, validators' influence depends on their inclusion in the Unique Node Lists (UNLs), published by Ripple Labs itself and by entities with financial ties to the company.

This gives Ripple Labs de facto control over transaction validation and registry integrity.

And since Ripple Labs de facto controls the XRP registry, decentralization of the network is illusory.

The company can technically modify the system to freeze your funds at any time, or change the rules to create more tokens. In other words, Ripple Labs has final authority over the system. They could just as easily have used an SQL database.

Nobody needs a falsely decentralized system with a token controlled by a company.

In other words, the XRP token literally has no reason to exist.

2) Nobody uses XRP:

For over 10 years, the project has claimed to want to replace the SWIFT system, yet almost no banks use them.

Ripple Labs claims that its system is used by thousands of banks, when in reality it's more like a few dozen, the majority of which have probably been paid to install their system.

For example, MoneyGram has confirmed that it has received payments from Ripple to use #XRP , with reports indicating that Ripple has paid MoneyGram around $50 million over two years (2019-2020) as part of a "strategic partnership".

3) The XRP Ledger has also achieved the feat of being the only "decentralized" ledger to have lost its entire transaction history.

The first 32,569 blocks of the ledger have disappeared and cannot be verified.

Since the Ledger cannot be traced back to the root (the first initial transaction), there is no way for a newcomer to verify that the ledger is correct and has not been tampered with.

4) 100% of XRP tokens were pre-mined:

100 billion XRP tokens (100%) were created from scratch by Ripple, before the project was launched. The team simply pressed a button and reserved all the tokens for themselves (they were given to the creators and to Ripple as a reserve).

As we'll see below, Ripple Labs' business model is to dupe these tokens created from scratch onto small investors to make a profit.

Ironically, #Bitcoin solved the problem of creating money out of thin air in 2009. Those who understand this are buying #Bitcoin.

Shitcoins like XRP are attempts to build on Bitcoin's success by recreating the same problem that Bitcoin solved, and people have been fooled.

5) If you've been holding XRP instead of BTC, you've already lost 50% of your wealth since 2014.

And the loss would have been much greater than that if Ripple Labs didn't still own 50% of the tokens 😂

And yet, there are hundreds of influvolator clowns, even in 2025, who will tell you that XRP will go to $400 or $10000 per token (which is mathematically impossible).

The lack of understanding of the most basic mathematical rules makes you want to cry!

6) Ripple Labs is actively working to destabilize Bitcoin:

Ripple and its team have been one of the biggest sources of anti-Bitcoin misinformation for over 10 years, confusing Bitcoin newbies for years with false claims.

One of the co-founders even donated $5 million to Greanpeace USA to launch an anti-Bitcoin propaganda campaign aimed at "changing the code" of Bitcoin to proof of stake 😂

7) Their level of lobbying of politicians is mind-boggling:

Ripple's second strategy for driving up the XRP price is to get close to politicians, to actively promote public initiatives opposed to Bitcoin adoption and to try to get the USA to create a strategic XRP reserve.

In other words, trying to get the state (and therefore public money) involved in buying XRP so they can continue to dumper their shitcoin all over the country.

8) Ripple's actual business model? Dumper on investors:

Ripple Labs dumps billions of #
XRP created from scratch on the market at regular intervals, to fund its activities.

Brad Garlinghouse: "We would not be profitable or cash flow positive without selling our XRP holdings."

When executives explain their scam themselves, I think it's clear 😂

9) The creators themselves regularly dump their tokens:

Small investors are the exit liquidity for creators, who for years have been selling their XRP created from scratch; they have now become billionaires.

10) In short, XRP has been sold to you as a banking and technological revolution, but in reality, it's just a useless token, a centralized system with no real purpose, that hasn't accomplished anything in a decade.

XRP is one of the worst things the cryptocurrency market has produced (and that's saying something!). It's a slow scam in which you are the exit liquidity.

So how to get around this?

Access Information
Before you even search for anything your government doesn't want you to see, you first need to connect to the internet.

➤ Tor
Let's assume that visiting foreign websites or certain types of information is illegal in your country.

Tor will be the most secure and private option for you, allowing you to operate anonymously.

You will also be able to use Tor bridges, which will disguise the fact that you're connecting to Tor network.

Some websites also have their .onion address, allowing you to stay on Tor without exiting to clearnet (such as Facebook, ProtonMail, etc.).

You can use it trough Tor browser, on operating systems such as TailsOS (where all your traffic is routed trough Tor), or on phone with tools like Orbot.

➤ VPN
VPN is second tool you can use to access information that are hidden from you.

In comparison to Tor, it's paid (if you want good one) and less private (because it's centralized).

Understand that VPNs don't make you anonymous.

Also depending on your state's network surveillance and censorship, even VPN might not be enough.

However, it will offer much faster browsing speed than Tor.

In case your Internet Service Provider is blocking the VPN, switch to VPNs DNS or use different DNS than your Internet Service Provider's.

My recommendations are mullvadnet, ivpnnet. I also have great hopes for obscuravpn.

➤ Communicate Privately
Accessing information is just half of the journey - most likely you'd like to share them with others in your country, or share some information with people outside of it.

While doing this, you'll have to use end-to-end encryption to ensure that only you and the receiving person can read the message.

Avoid SMS, WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, Telegram and similar.

➤ SimpleX or Session
SimpleXChat messenger allows to create multiple profiles/accounts without having unique identifier or requiring phone number to sign-up.

You can also use a SOCKS proxy, which needs to be supplied by another application operating on your device.

You can also host your own really to help the decentralisation.

➤ Nostr, (You are there 👏)
Nostr, which stands for "Notes and Other Stuff Transmitted by Relays," is a decentralized network protocol designed to create a censorship-resistant social media platform.

Most uses relays to which users can publish content using cryptographic key pairs.

This architecture allows for greater user control over data and the ability to resist censorship since there's no single point of failure or control.

Overall, Nostr is a great step forward, however still requires lot of work.

➤ Payments
You will probably have to pay for something - VPN, some packages or other payed services.

Using card or bank wire won't be possible.

Since we are talking online censorship, physical cash doesn't need to be mentioned (but great privacy tool).

➤ Bitcoin
Bitcoin is the backbone of monetary resistance.
Decentralized, censorship-resistant, and incorruptible, it’s more than just a currency — it’s an exit.

While it’s not "anonymous", it’s unstoppable. A store of value, a network of trust, and a hedge against systemic decay.

In a world of inflation, surveillance, and monetary control — Bitcoin is the plan.

➤ Backup public data
Even if you try and connect to some website, the information might not be there.

Grab 1 TB Drive (or probably more) and backup everything that's dear to you.

Examples:
- Wikipedia
=> Full EN without pictures
- Gatalog
=> Full DIY models
- Internet Archive books
=> First Aid, Gardening...
- Multiple LLMs, including uncensored ones
=> and learn to run them locally

REVOLT AGAINST THE OPPRESSION
Even if it might look like that we are loosing one battle, the war is still going on.

I believe that with Freedom Tech and disobedience we will win.

Internet is unstoppable. This is not just about censorship, but also surveillance and freedom in digital realms.

Use Open Source tools that encrypt your data, don't track you and serve you as a user, instead of making you a servant or slave.

For video editor software, without paying, I'd suggest DaVinci Resolve (there's a free version which is great). If you want advanced and AI features though you'll have to buy it -but it is a one time purchase instead of subscription.

With an honorable mention of using CapCut on desktop. It has a bunch of stuff built in for free, including subtitles and AI things.

As someone else also said - DaVinci would be a great tool to get the first pass done. Mix in various stock or AI generated footage or avatars. Many such tools others are mentioning are all good at one thing or another. Take that 20 minute video when done and slap it into Opus clip. It can make the shorts and subtitles automatically based on the dialogue. style it to your brand. Include a logo or watermark if you want. Done!

You'll end up with one full length version and 3-15 half decent vertical shorts.

BTC pay server as someone suggested works as well - but then you have to manage it more. And it also only supported USA customers in our testing. So we swapped back over to this.

Coinbase and Shopify just announced a collaboration - so that might eventually support bitcoin. But the announcement only specifies the USDC stablecoin.

The portable Studio BTC truck and camper rig survived one weekend but not a second. The RV fridge set to gas mode decided to burn some dreams down this past weekend.

Can confirm this is the case in both film and oilfield as well, but really - probably every industry as tonycarrera (npub15mw…zz9n) says. I definitely see it more and more at these bitcoin conferences I go to as well - but I will say - there are some solid folks mixed in that are at a lot of these as well. Once you know who they are it makes these events better. Takes time to build these relationships though.

It's not easy at all. Since going nostr only I'm distracted a lot less 😅. But due to work it's usually at hand during weekdays.

I've finally setup schedules in the last couple days yo enable do not disturb on evenings and weekends so I don't see anything at all come in unless it's a call. This seems to work great and easy to disable for a few minutes when I have time to catch up to whatever notifications are there.

As a fan of Borderlands myself I keep hearing from both the general internet and (so far 4x) IRL friends that it is one of the worst adaptations of a video game to movie in a long time. I generally trust their opinion on these matters and I can verify they've been (collectively) correct over the years. I can't say I've verified this myself on this particular movie, but my social graph seems to go against this opinion. Would love to be proven wrong though.
