Since fixing my KiCad (npub1v8y…ln6j) setup ~3 weeks ago, I've done...

I'd doodled a quick pixel-art selfie on my iPad as a test image... which has now ballooned into a horde of emoji that I can use in Signal and beyond >:D

Here's the final display; I used #Pixaki to make the doodle and edit it later. Really fun and intuitive app (and yes, it has a symmetry feature!). I've been wanting to hunt up such a resource for the Joule Thief self-oscillating voltage booster circuit (https://www.hackster.io/glowascii/joule-thief-pcb-power-from-dead-batteries-651d67 – though you probably already know :) ). I'd like to make a kit with well-chosen wire gauges + ferrite toroid dimensions and wrap count guidance. But many places just say "grab whatever one; it'll work" or "get from a charger", which is fine for my one-offs, but...

So I'm listening to Jeff Vandermeer's Annihilation series again, on 1x speed this time for the vibe, and Carolyn McCormick's narration is reminding me of Peggy Lee in "Is That All There Is?"
It's so, so good.

Plus, it turns out we get a new installation in October, in time for the 10th anniversary! Hope they get McCormick on the audio again and release it soon :)
