But I don&#39;t know any xmpp client doing that, they all store their contact list on the server.<br/><br/>Even if they won&#39;t, the server could analyze who talks to who by snikkfing its traffic. (signal can do **that** to btw, even with sealed sender they always know the ips of everyone involved and could correlate by timing)<br/>The benefit of xmpp is not that it produces less metadata, but that it&#39;s not all in one basket. Ideally it is in a giant amount of small baskets. That&#39;s what snikket realized too and why easy selfhosting is a good thing. Add xmpp addresses.<br/>Just add a chat address, the field what type of chat is meaningless for Android so there set what you like.<br/><br/>In the **actual** address field you then enter xmpp:you@example.com<br/>And it will show in Android.<br/>So as long as you use the xmpp: protocol identifier in the address, it works.
