A long drive, lots of new smells, very little sleep 🙃 everything at once. On the way home, Molly was… neutral. No excitement, no aggression. Just confusion. She had never seen such a tiny puppy before and simply didn’t know what to do with that reality.<br/><br/>The first day at home was cautious. Nikki instinctively looked for her mama and milk, but Molly obviously has none of that. There were a few growls, some distance, a lot of new sensations and stress for everyone involved. Nothing dramatic 🙃 just adjustment.<br/><br/>On the second day, play began. A bit rough. Molly pushed her away, tested boundaries, and the friendship was still very much “in progress,” except during short moments of play when curiosity took over.<br/><br/>By the third day, everything softened. No more growling. She lets Nikki come close, tolerates her, even gently guides her at times. The play is wild now 😂😂😂 Like they’ve always known each other 🧡<br/><br/>It really is a textbook transition from ‘no, no’ then quiet acceptance, and suddenly a family 🖤🤎🖤<br/>Much better than I expected 💘<br/><br/>Molly is a golden dog with a golden heart. Alongside the project we’ve been working on for over a year, I’ve also started rediscovering old hobbies. As a child and in my youth, before the wild years of alcohol, drugs, and endless partying (which used to be my whole life) I actually enjoyed doing simple things like playing sudoku and knitting!<br/><br/>And guess what?! 😁 I’ve picked them up again. But this time it feels different, more meaningful, because I can actually dedicate free time to them and let them grow. I haven’t played games in years (I used to have a gambling addiction too), and I’ve realized I’m very prone to addictions. It happens fast.<br/><br/>Recently I started playing sudoku again, and within a day I reached some kind of master level because I just couldn’t stop. Then I shifted my focus to knitting, with the goal of making a beautiful mohair sweater. While writing this, I remembered how obsessed I was with Candy Crush when it came out, reached something like level 3800 before I finally got bored. Maybe I’ll pick it up again?<br/><br/>Anyway, the good news is that where I once had destructive addictions that literally broke me, now I’m rehabilitated and genuinely enjoying life. But during the summer, we really do get those local forest and garden treasures. This is the first year I’m genuinely excited for summer because I finally enjoy lots of fruit and berries, something I never did before since I used to avoid sweet things completely. I didn’t crave them, probably because I drank alcohol regularly. I also had blood sugar issues, too much and I’d get anxious, too little and I’d feel faint. Now I truly appreciate the gifts of nature, not processed or chemical “food.” And I’m so grateful we don’t have that plastic-packaged, pre-cut fruit in single bites like I’ve seen abroad. It’s a real shock going into supermarkets elsewhere.
