years ago when poking at steam for linux i developed a very silly solution to this:
first you patchelf the INTERP in the binary to point at an itty bitty binary instead of ld.so
that binary, before invoking the real ld.so, mmaps the entire binary, rwx, at a fixed location
then you can just append whatever you want to the end, and get it loaded at a fixed address to boot

what permissions does this Showcase app even have? Looking at Trail of Bits' full report ( https://40052983.fs1.hubspotusercontent-na1.net/hubfs/40052983/iVerify-Showcase.apk-Vulnerability-Report-and-Pentest.pdf ) it seems like the scariest things there are WRITE_SECURE_SETTINGS + some location stuff? nothing that even appears to require it be a system app afaict (so if you have physical access why not just install your own evil APK and grant those perms with adb...)
