I’ve heard stories about all three fascilities, both good and bad, from inside the system when I was working in BC’s Civil Service. No system is perfect, but a system which doesn’t just shove people out to middle through on their own without the skills to do so is no service, and certainly isn’t helping anyone. It started closing in the 1970s, I think, with it fully shut in the early ’80s. That put pressure on both Riverview and Woodlands, plus some brand new ‘care in the community’ placement.
