my primary school didn't offer languages, my parents dont speak another language, and I didn't know many people who spoke Spanish growing up. First time I was offered a Spanish class wash 9th grade, and the school's Spanish program was very bad.

My friends, as it is Superb Owl day, I would like to show a more recent picture of Baked Beans, taken back in January. He now has his adult plumage and is quite majestic, particularly since he's all sticky-uppy. He was being taken past the gorilla play room and did not like the gorillas.

Also keep an eye out for other fun bird posts. The zoo also has a wonderful Tawny Frogmouth that I adore, and a baby flamingo that goes on walks around the zoo.

Well friends, it is time.
After 10 years, this #aloe plant is so big that moving it was a danger to both the plant and the people moving it (required at least 2 people). It had majorly outgrown it's 18 inch pot and fallen over.
I've chopped it off at the base, trimmed back the leaves, and will attempt rerooting it so it can grow straight again.
Currently hanging in an empty pot with a tarp donut protecting the lower leaves.

They regularly try to deny her prescriptions. For example, her migraine drug that she's been taking happily for years. They suddenly decided it wasn't a long term thing and refused to cover the prescription each month unless she had a note from her doctor each month saying she still needed it.

They randomly decided to change her neurologist. She told them not. They didn't assign her a new neurologist, but they did drop her old one so she had no official neurologist. When she finally forced then to add her neurologist back, they gave her a different doctor who was out of network (???!). She finally managed to get an in-network doctor, but a new one who didn't know her condition.

She's has major migraines and it's a pre-existing condition. It's illegal to not cover folks with pre-existing conditions, so most insurance companies simply don't cover the medication to treat them. She only has one health insurance option because there is only one company that covers her medication.

My mom shows up once a week at a local nonprofit to clean the place. I signed up to shovel several old neighbors' walks in the winter.
I've had a little difficulty just finding random options that fit me online, but I think a good strategy might be emailing a nonprofit I care about and asking if they have any introvert volunteer opportunities.

Helping other people can make you feel empowered, and then the community is that much stronger and able to help you when you're in trouble.

My plan is to get together with a friend and dedicate one morning/afternoon a week to volunteering. I'll know I'm helping folks, I'm having friend time, and I'll be making friends who I can count on if I need it.

There's an Eastern European store in the next town, and sometimes my friend and I will go there and buy a whole bunch of new things to try.
Today the winner is pinecones in syrup. I had zero clue what to expect, since all I know was it was in the jam aisle and had a pine cone on the lid. Great choice.

Sadly the pickled onions were a little lackluster, but the cherry gummy candies were excellent, as was the pear soda

(We didn't find the gross candies from last time that taste like burnt house)
