Was just chatting with a buddy about Starship Troopers - how the movie and book differed in tone. Some folks seem to think that Heinlein was advocating for the society he wrote about but my feeling is that he was merely exploring an idea of how such a society would work. My SO is a nail polish afficionado (he says looking at the 4 IKEA Helmer cabinets full of the stuff) and folks of that class are well aware that many interesting pigments and light-altering powders from automotive paint are applicable to their area of interest.
