      In reply to &lt;a href=&#39;/nevent1qqs9yrktlt5ddd54yunu27fafnslxjzj0tzdxha00ssmwhs4y50y9fc0r4vgl&#39;&gt;nevent1q…4vgl&lt;/a&gt;&lt;br/&gt;_________________________&lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;another related thought is that active recall is hard to sustain because, well, it feels hard -- but the cool thing about writing code is that you get some payoff when you do it &amp;#39;right&amp;#39;, so by having activities where learners write small bits of code, you&amp;#39;re encouraging constant active recall (at least of python syntax and basic run-time semantics) and they&amp;#39;re getting instant-ish feedback. that&amp;#39;s why we never forget syntax once learned, since it&amp;#39;s recalled every time we code
