      Any aster enthusiasts out there who know of an aster that has purple leaves? Or something that might cause purple leaves? Not finding anything online except a purple-stemmed aster and info about asters with purple flowers. (Though can’t admit to examining all the many species.)       I have some trees that could probably finally have the fencing protection removed now that they&amp;#39;ve reached above deer-browsing height, but then there&amp;#39;s the danger of deer rubbing.       Surprise swamp milkweed! I tried and failed to grow some from seeds in my basement  early this winter. After nothing came up, I threw the dirt where I had planned on planting them in a last-ditch attempt to get them to grow. And lo and behold, I spotted a pink flowering plant today that I hadn’t seen before. Woo! Either bad advice or my corn just needed to be boiled for 30 minutes rather than 15. Usually I would boil corn ten minutes, but it was obvious that it wasn’t ready so I gave it another five. Still too chewy.
