Joel Salatin is a world renown ecological farmer. He was considered, by Sen. Massie, to an agriculture advisor from the MAGA movement. Lately, Salatin is arguing for a Food Independence Proclamation - a radical decentralisation approach to our food systems. Imagine the changes possible, if BCH was the currency for all these farmers working to decentralise our food systems.
https://youtu.be/Hc3MMSyhjtQ?si=3mdhcMKUSy6Mj7IL

      Hello folks!
Because I've been working with ecology for nearly 20 years now, I'm getting some backlash about my experimentations with BCH. Most people point out BCH's (or BTC's for this matter) mining environmental footprint. Does anyone here have any data on this issue?

This is the one I wanted to post here on Bchat, but it wasn't loading the whole article. I can paste the other parts as comments or new posts, what do you think it would be better? My main point is: we need to decentralise food and money at the same time. Our food systems were based solely on efficiency and economies of scale, they have no resiliency and ordinary urban people have practically no voice in it (except buying on the 'healthy food' isle). It'll take sometime to create parallel systems, and get urban people to wean off corporate food and buy more locally. If we can use BCH to decentralise the food system, both farmers and consumers will have more freedom.

The human relationship pyramid and Bitcoin Cash: is it all upside down?!
An exploration into BCH's function and role in restoring human relationships, culture, and nature in an era of energy descent.

"The financial crisis we are facing today arises from the fact that there is almost no more social, cultural, natural, and spiritual capital left to convert into money. Centuries of near-continuous money creation have left us so destitute that we have nothing left to sell. Our forests are damaged beyond repair, our soil depleted and washed into the sea, our fisheries fished out, and the rejuvenating capacity of the earth to recycle our waste saturated. Our cultural treasury of songs and stories, of images and icons, has been looted and copyrighted. Any clever phrase you can think of is already a trademarked slogan. Our very human relationships and abilities have been taken away from us and sold back, so that we are now dependent on strangers, and therefore on money, for things few humans ever paid for until recently: food, shelter, clothing, entertainment, child care, cooking. Life itself has become a consumer item. (Charles Eisenstein, 2011, pp. 93-94)"

This was written as a short article bringing some references and some of my questions about the role of BCH supporting viable lives in rural areas and thus helping fix and decentralise our food systems. For some reason though, the full text cannot be properly loaded to the Bchat feed.

It would be nice to know if we have at least a few people here interested in talking further about these topics. Please let me know in the comments, and I'll post it in installments.

A P2P currency can help small farmers sell directly (sometimes avoiding red-tapes) and be appreciated by their costumers, which in turn can create and support more small ecological farmers. A decentralised money without a decentrlised food system cannot guarantee real freedom.

      What about permissionless farming?!

There is a lot of talk in the BCH and NOSTR spheres about permissionless money and communication, but this is not enough to guarantee real freedom.

"Bill Gates’ new $1.4B soil bioengineering initiative, sold under the guise of “philanthropic climate adaptation,” is an effort to hijack the biosphere itself: soil mapping, engineered microbes, and genetic interventions under the banner of sustainability. These aren’t isolated ag-tech projects. They’re nodes in a larger planetary bio‑surveillance grid, a system designed to monitor, record, and ultimately control life at every level, from crops and forests to human microbiomes." (Ice Age Farmer)

If the 'free money' we have is not supporting small ecological farmers, soon we'll have plenty of freedom to transact, but no choice in food.

https://unshadowed.substack.com/p/the-planetary-bio-surveillance-grid

The onboarding of farmers should be a priority for everyone concerned with food security and sovereignty.

We are still analysing BCH's value against the dollar (or whatever national FIAT currency) whereas farmers analyse 'value' against their capacity to produce goods (mostly food) that they can sell or barter. For instance, currently a heifer (a young cow) is being sold for aprox 1,200 dollars (it's the highest it has been in decades) or 2.5 BCH and within aprox 2 years this cow will produce another one (50% return on investment per year). Farmers are the most secure people in a hyper inflation situation, exactly because what they produce holds its value in a crisis. They will judge adoption accordingly... We need to show them that even if BCH brings a level of risk (volatility), the benefits of a P2P and finite currency are worth it.

Here are some of my concerns about the future of BHC:
If BCH, as a P2P decentralised currency, is not used to support local farmers and descentralise food production and distribuition, what will be its use during a crisis such as COVID or if government freezes peoples' money?

A decentralised P2P currency needs to foster the descentralisation of essencial goods and services, such as food production and distribution, health, and communication. BCH won't change (descentralise) these areas if it's mainly used as a store of value. It needs to flow and nurture areas providing for basic human needs. We cannot forget that while regular people can only buy (and use) BCH slowly (due to their already fragile economic situation) in order to save resources and build wealth, most super rich people are buying huge pieces of land everywhere. And land, as a store of value, does not create food security.

I would like to hear people's thoughts, as I study BCH as a P2P currency for small homesteaders and farmers.
