The Trans-Canada Trail is an imaginary, arbitrary line on a virtual map. It is connected occasionally to local trails - but such is not the case for the Athabasca Trail, that is until the trail head begins somewhere north of Highway 18. We are not there yet. We are guerrilla camped in a currently vacant Community Hall just past Halfmoon Lake Recreation area - despite Google Maps and the Highway signs, does not take drop in campers.<br/>The roads to get here were soft sandy surfaces occasionally covered by thick loose gravel.
