Not everyone is satisfied when the word &amp;#34;analytic&amp;#34; is defined to mean this.

      Usually arxiv.org&amp;gt;math.CV has the most stultifyingly dull, surname-loaded, mildly-descriptive paper titles out of all the #math subjects (I am guilty of this myself). The second question is addressed in a series of exercises in Chapter 3 of Differential Topology by Guillemin and Pollack (using transversality with a goal of understanding the index).
