DataRepublican (small r) makes an interesting point about the Social Security list(s) in a reply to Musk reporting a cleanup of ~3.2 million 120+ olds:

"The cleanup of the Social Security database is about something much more important. It is about establishing a ground truth."

"There is a reason that DC is panicking about establishing a truly accurate Social Security database, and it is because much of federal government revolves around having no true ground truth. [And if we knew we'd revolt]"

She links to an article about how up to 75% of illegal aliens are using stolen SSNs. Treasury is happy, they get more money. HHS etc. is happy, they get more power. And this false income reporting also causes problems for many citizen Americans.

"If we pulled together all those fragmented datasets, and constructed a truly accurate Social Security database - one SSN per person - not only would the federal government be greatly reduced in power, ___we would also be able to document exactly who and where all the illegal aliens are.___"

Emphasis added. She closes noting "... that's the real reason why politicians are in such a panic about cleaning up this data."

https://nitter.poast.org/DataRepublican/status/1901999752549421288

But sure, I'll go there:

One of the 2024 Presidential campaign's most effective ads was "Kamala is for they/them, President Trump is for you." So important it has a _long_ Wikipedia article.

Sure, _this_ particular issue was probably not number one for most Trump voters, but at minimum it crystallized what pollster are now investigating as the doom of the Democratic party, that most people in the US believe it is not for them, but for other people.

Doom because Obama _did_ "fundamentally change" the party, and most of what's left of it is either trapped in a holiness spiral or is caught between that faction and their constituents. Internal polling in the Blue north east must be beyond grim if you look at the list of people who voted for cloture for the House's continuing resolution and the final vote, and other reports like Kirsten Gillibrand of NY being heard screaming outside a caucus's meeting door about it.

(There is of course none more holy than transgenders, World War T will not be denied.

Although brown and black migrants are close, and it's easy to point out how they compete for scarce jobs and housing and drive up the cost of the latter which is particularly inelastic; see also Canada importing millions while only building a quarter million residences a year. Food supply is a lot more elastic except for beef and for the moment eggs, but I wouldn't be surprised if a case can be made there.)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kamala_is_for_they/them

Schumer's offer was a thirty day stopgap while they'd negotiate something better.

He didn't as I recall offer what would be better, let alone get enough Republican votes, and with his party loudly and violently refusing to work with Republicans in any way it had no credibility for anyone with a clue. See also Obama's abuses in shutdowns, like finding enough money to pay the National Park Service to fence off open monuments, parking lots (in one case, one they didn't own) etc.

Alinsky got it right in his rule seven: "A tactic that drags on too long becomes a drag."

One argument Schumer made was a shutdown would give Team Trump/DOGE even more power, for example they get to decide who's "essential" and who gets sent home until its over. If would also likely put a crimp in the overt lawfare against Trump 2.0.

Its who the violence targets that's a partial change from the traditional (it's still very imperialistic).

Currently in the US, yes, bugmen are taught to be pacifists because among other reasons that makes them easy to control, also because women are a very major part of its faction (although their hind brains crave men capable of violence).

Its use of violence is manifest, be it statistical anarcho-tyranny of soft on crime policies and violent negroes and/or Muslims, "invite the world" imported if necessary, its use of paramilitaries like Antifa which in Europe are sometimes funded by the state, in violent policing especially of white normies and the "far right," all the way to the invade the world extreme.

See the latest where the West's ruling trash has coalesced around violent suppression of speech they don't like. Note how much they support what's happening in the U.K., and how much they want to imprison Musk for Xwitter. And how they've already done that to the Telegram guy, that service now removing its privacy assurances in its FAQ; as Robert Shibley notes, "Western governments are now openly using the “$5 wrench” method of circumventing encryption."

https://instapundit.com/671078/

AnotherDad on Unz.com after concisely detailing what's needed to maintain civilization:

"[Someone] was telling me a few days back that his liberal Democrat friends were “pro-civilization”. Absolutely nonsense. They are pro “being nice” or pro “feeling they are superior”. They have no well thought out concept of what actual civilization even is."

There can be no compromise with these people, like the stereotype to a fault Jew he's replying to.

https://www.unz.com/isteve/how-to-think-about-how-safe-cities-are-from-crime/#comment-6743116

      In reply to nevent1q…3c7y
_________________________

At the moment, and not knowing these sorts of details for real, I'm wildly guessing _Concord_ on Steam is going to gross well under $5K (after refunds, and I don't know how many discounted or free copies are represented in the player base).

What's Value's gross and net takes on those sorts of numbers? For former I'm guessing they pretty much only have to pay electricity to host the game ... well, Sony's so big they probably have at least a fraction of a sales/marketing type to manage that general relationship ... Valve will probably make ~~money~~ pocket change on this. Probably the same net after you count capitalization of software development (now required by the US government! Don't worry, it's primarily hurting our enemies), whatever for their server fleet (do they own that, or rent??), etc.

That said, Valve provides a marketplace with a _great_ deal of discovery capabilities, and refunds if you immediately don't like a game, so it's really up to consumers to decide if something is shovel ware or better. As the latter are demonstrating with it's low, low concurrent user numbers, which Valve also helpfully supplies so we know _Concord_ is a contender for ___the biggest media flop in all of history.___
