I may have actually bought them before I moved to Spain! I’m not sure. Now that I live here, I generally order shoes sent to my parents’ house and get them when I visit. They’re like €50 cheaper in the U.S. So then bc I might buy multiple pairs at once or they don’t reach me for months, it’s easier for such a thing to happen.

As I ran through Central Park this evening, I saw a few people going their separate ways and one was waving a tiny American flag, the kind on a 12-inch pole. It struck me as odd. Then I heard her yell to the others, “Happy Citizenship Day!!! Welcome to America!!”
And it felt so strange. What must it feel like to be sworn in as a U.S. citizen RIGHT NOW? A huge relief on some level, I’m sure. But also, it must feel like - this is not the American Dream that I dreamt of.

places I have lived, for the most part, such as NYC, Valencia and Barcelona, I really didn’t feel like I needed to worry much about safety. A benefit of highly trafficked places. But sometimes if traveling, it can be a different story.
Or the not safe is because of cars. Even last weekend running in Tarifa, Spain - zero concern over crime but it was pitch black on the return from my run along side of highway, and that wasn’t optimal.

I loved seeing so many people out playing football ⚽️ on the beach while I was running, but it made me sad because I saw no girls. Then finally I saw one girl 🫶
I saw lots of women walking, but running only several young girls with their dads, several foreign women and a couple young women. Morocco is not a place where women can’t do sports, but it is still not a place where most women are out doing sports activities in public. Also saw ⚽️ stadium en route to airport.

Nobody wants to say anything negative about Trump given how vengeful he is. Yet all the positives being asserted are things like:
“He can’t decimate the Inflation Reduction Act as much as he says.”
“We don’t think he’ll put as high of tariffs as he says.”
“The U.S. economy always recovers, even when it falters.”

ugh, despite not mixing laxatives with sleeping pills, I can empathize. I came home from work early today (I live in Barcelona so it’s 7pm) because I was so nauseous I couldn’t function anymore.
I have herniated cervical discs from a car crash spring 2023, so that sometimes makes me nauseous, but not sleeping well over election anxiety and nonstop worry over elections are surely exacerbating this.
Hope we have one less thing to worry about in a few days!
