I keep thinking that most editor color schemes are colorful in a way that is more distracting than helpful. Using low contrast schemes doesn't really change that. I found one that has almost no colors, but if you do something like search, it highlights the matches very prominently, making them really easy to find. This made me realize that, maybe, it's less about the colorscheme and more about it adapting to the context? Now I'm wondering what else a *modal* color scheme could be helpful with. But all I can come up with is just this. Highlight whatever you are currently doing, instead of everything, all at once.

      Is anybody else thinking the whole point of LLMs isn't to benefit humanity as much as it is meant to be an interface to harvest people's thoughts and fears, in order to sell them to data brokers? 👀 It doesn't exactly look like Silicon Valley is capable of envisioning any other business model at this point.

      So... here is something mildly counter-intuitive: I disabled line-wrapping in my text editor (`set nowrap` in vim) and I found that I very rarely need to look at what gets cut off. If I do, I have a mapping to quickly toggle it. But the rest of the time, it's out of the way and I don't have to figure out what displayed line belongs to what actual line. For text, I have it automatically add actual line breaks anyway. Try it!

Board games are yet another example, where there is a set of rules, some changing state, represented by various game pieces, the players mutually observe that the rules are being followed, and the result is a winner. I keep wondering what other ends some board-game-like setup could be used for.

* https://merveilles.town/@tendigits/113822340665968899
