Yeah, uh, I actually went to private school and public school; the main difference is that public school is interested in actually educating students, and private schools are more interested in class & race segregation and religious indoctrination; there's nothing about private education that results in better outcomes - those better outcomes are from generational wealth, not superior education.

the general argument I see is that some other non-profit (usually Internet Archive) needs funded more than Wikimedia Foundation does, and it seems to me Wikimedia's Endowment is doing OK - but nowhere near 10 years. All the arguments about "efficiency" are a red herring because their project is trying to do good in the world which the financial world usually sees as waste.

Everyone has to do their own personal budgeting, not saying to give if it hurts, but The Big Three for me in Tech are Wikimedia, EFF, and Internet Archive. These 3 have been working together to fight for open access to the world's treasure-trove of knowledge & deserve our support because they help all of us much more than For-Profits ever could or would.
