Dug up the Walla Wallas that I seeded in the greenhouse last fall. These will get planted in a raised bed. We should be able to start harvesting by late June.

There are a lot more of these in the greenhouse from a tray of starts I bought this spring. Those are much smaller in size. I will transplant those in a few weeks.

Got heat?

We have a cold frame on our deck for hardening off seedlings that we start indoors under grow lights and with a heat mat. The pic is a maximum/minimum thermometer hanging in the cold frame. Looks like it went down to 35 degrees last night. This is near Redmond WA. So for now the small plants are only going into the cold frame during the day and back inside the house at night.

Time now to get a fire going in the woodstove. 🥶

It is 100% certain that the FBI has not released all of the interviews they conducted with victims of the Epstein child sex trafficking. Anyone can repeat the analysis I made and come up with the same list of 151 FD-302 documents that have not been made public. The FBI produced one of these documents for each interview they conducted. It is 100% certain that many of these un-released FD-302s allege abuse by someone **other than** Epstein.

I emailed the local office of my congress representative and attached a copy of version 3 of my Epstein report. As an “action item” I asked for someone in congress to ask to view unredacted copies of a sampling of the documents with “serial numbers” which the FBI has not made public. Those serial numbers are listed in my report.

Local staff confirmed to me in a reply email that they will send my message up their chain of command.

Gotta admit that working outside and feeling the warm sun on my back in the PNW in *January* is kinda nice.

Last fall I planted several lettuce varieties in a raised bed just to see what would happen. So far the coldest we have seen is about 28 degrees. When that happens the lettuce plants have some frost but have not died. Unless it gets colder I am thinking that when the days get longer the plants will grow nice new leaves and we will not be buying lettuce for a good long time.

Flickers have started sending out looking-for-love messages by beating on the house chimney cap.

Going to wait until the sun has melted the frost off the deck railing before shifting to outdoor chores.

We have been growing Yukon Gold as the main potato crop in our garden for many years. Last year I bought certified Yukon Gold seed potatoes at a local nursery. Other years I have planted our own potatoes to grow the next crop. We grow them in raised beds with solid sides. I think that growing them this way helps to maintain even soil moisture and avoid most of the hollow center problems.

I like to buy new seed potatoes each year (1) to avoid possible disease carry-over and (2) since I get to go to great nursery - Flower World near Maltby WA. But if they do not have Yukon Gold seed potatoes next year then I will plant some of this year’s potatoes and see what the options are when 2027 rolls around.

What about giving the user the option to display the numerical accuracy value? The GPS chip in mobile devices produces the accuracy value in meters. Of course that would be easy to convert to feet.

Perhaps your documentation could point out the relationship between the location coordinates and accuracy value. If a circle is drawn using the coordinate as the center and accuracy value as the radius then there is supposed to be a 95% likelihood that the device is inside that circle.

The marker on this map is at Camp Mystic on the Guadalupe River, Texas. This is where many children lost their lives in the flash flood. The dots on the map are clickable federal streamgages. Note that there are no streamgages upriver from the camp.

If there had been a federal streamgage upriver from Camp Mystic then any savvy iOS or Android developer could write an app that lets the user input the unique ID for that gage and then sound an alarm if the water level at the gage increases by a certain amount.

Local foodbank will get some of our organic buttercrunch lettuce. Also in the box are the last of the storage onions and shallots from last year’s garden. A few of those has started to sprout and they got chopped up for the compost pile.

I'm going to point to the black houses that survived and try to convince people in my neighborhood to work on defensible space and cleaning up their property of dead branches on the ground etc. Sure, we do not exactly why some homes survived but defensible space might be part of the reason.
