The outer shell shows some suggested jumper settings, and that is what it is set to now (AT). It doesn&#39;t work in place of the working drive from the Aptiva (used on the 286 Compaq Portable III). This was DOS 4.0. The board I got still had its clock battery, and I swapped in a new one (thanks tindie person who made these) almost immediately...which makes me think maybe it was still good and had retained its settings? Otherwise I don&#39;t think it would have booted without the diagnostic disk. Figured it out. The 2.04 installer just didn&#39;t install Redir.exe. When I looked in autoexec.bat, it was calling to load redir, but it just wasn&#39;t there.
