This heat wave has got me rethinking my whole gardening plan this year.
We're already loaded with aphids and every square inch of this place is full of ants. Think I'm going to forego brassicas altogether and double up on dry beans. Tired of fighting aphids. Also going to start lettuce, carrots, green onions and radishes now instead of waiting until April. This way they can take advantage of the warm soil. Even if we get a cold snap, they'll be fine.

It was meant as a prototype, but dang if the janky thing doesn't work just fine. Fits perfectly in my pug pen case like I wanted. Now they won't bang into each other, and if there are leaks, it shouldn't ruin the pen case.

Been making up for lost time now that I'm feeling good. Shutting down most of the garden for the winter. A few exceptions. Addressed my Covid neglected Brussel Sprouts. They were infested with thousands of aphids and the sprouts have stayed tiny. I firehosed the aphids, and raised their skirts. Hoping this shower and shave and improved sunlight will help.

Just remembered another time where this creepy guy had sex with a woman in one of the conference rooms. The room had a security camera. So, yes, they got caught. This was the woman's first job out of college. She got immediately fired. The guy initially kept his job, but got fired later when another woman reported him for sexual harrassment. He even flirted with me once, and I was a least 20 years older than him. I hope that woman ended up with a better job and a good career but who knows?

Back from my trip, but had to put down The Old Pug while I was on the road. My vet had found masses on her spleen & liver before I left. Last night of visiting my sister she could barely breathe. Vet in N. Carolina said she likely was suffering from pulmonary hypertension as well. For a variety of reasons, made the tough decision to let her go. My sister let me bury her under a canopy of trees at her house. Sad trip home. Here's the first & last pictures of her. 💔 #Pug #Pugs

Annual tree fern crew-cut day. Lots of new growth/fiddleheads. All the ferns have enjoyed this spring rain.
Our widest tree fern only needed minimal pruning as she lives under the shelter of a couple of Redwoods and gets less frost damage. Some of her fronds are about 6 feet/2metres. She was in bad shape when we bought this place. Now she's living her best life.
