ah, that would do it. The Apple TV client still needs to be updated for that functionality. It's been a long road because it's definitely more specialized than our Android/Android TV effort. There's no updated build for Apple TV just yet, only iOS/iPadOS. I'll make sure to add another vote to the feature request though.

1. Yes, the criteria is different. It's largely client dependant. We have a very large list here: https://jellyfin.org/docs/general/clients/codec-support

Depending on the CPU you have, you may have transcoding ability without knowing it. It would need a little bit of extra configuration, but it's something we can help with in our chat or forums.

There's two things I can suggest. If you haven't already, install our Subtitle Extract plugin and let it run. The first pass will take a long time (depending on how much content there is to go through). After that, it will just run on new content only (much faster).

The second is to prioritize SRT subtitles wherever you can, but I know that's not always possible.
