I gave up my motorcycle a couple years ago because with my increasing age I can’t take the heat like I used to, and with the humidex frequently hitting the 40s now my rides had to be short. Short rides mean travelling the same roads = boring. With the e-bike I’ve been exploring new trails much further from home, which is both interesting, gives me exercise, and I don’t kill myself going home uphill against the wind. I’m happy with the switch.

I had to go to the vet to pick up some meds. It's only 1.8km away so it would be better to take the e-bike instead of the car. The humidex is 41 so I decided to use full assist on the e-bike; I don't care, I'll exercise another day. With the strong wind it felt like I was riding into a hair dryer. Part of the distance was along a shaded trail. 5 minutes there, 5 minutes in the vet with A/C, and 5 minutes home, so I didn't even work up a sweat. e-bikes are great! ☀️💨🚴🏻‍♀️

I have reached what I am going to call the "Sheppard High-tech Inflection Transition*" whereby one crosses the point where the amount of technology used results in daily problems due to entropy or vendor enshitification.

I don't think Apple will ever give up price gouging for non-user upgradeable components. I intend to get 32 GB RAM and 2 TB SSD minimum and fully expect to get hosed for it. A tried and true Apple tradition.

Good ol' macOS Catastrophe forced me to restart the computer again to clear the recurring "hell no, we won't show you the Save dialog box so you can save your work" bug. Since that's the latest OS my venerable 2012 Mac mini can run, I'm hoping for a new M4 mini announcement this week. I also hope the design has adequate cooling, otherwise I'll have to wait for an M4 Studio next year.

I use a reciprocating saw with a coarse tooth blade I don’t mind being worn out by the dirt. It makes short work of small stump removal.

I don't think so since multiple edit timestamps are identical down to the second. It's unlikely someone could edit and submit 3 times in the same second.

Not only can #Mastodon say a post has been edited but have no edits, it may also say there are 3 edits but the last 2 are identical to the first for both the edited date and content. This is … sub-optimal.

TIL that #Mastodon will indicate a post has been edited, but when you look at the edits it says it was edited 0 times. Bug or design intent?
