#asknostr Are there any car people here?
This is my 1985.5 Porsche 944. I’ve owned it for five years and I’m the third owner. I have an incomplete but good history on it, including the original buyer’s order and window sticker. It’s what you would call a survivor car; entirely original. It came well optioned with AC, cruise control, sport seats, offset Fuchs wheels and a limited slip differential.
I’ve been driving and wrenching on it since the day I bought it. I tend to lay it up for a few months each winter and get into stuff. This winter I rebuilt the brake system, replaced the shocks, removed cleaned and resealed the transmission, and installed a short shifter.
Owning and driving this thing absolutely delights me. It’s not fast but boasts a 50:50 weight distribution across the front and rear wheels, so it gives whatever I ask of it on a twisty country road. It’s happiest between 4500-6500 RPM. The seats are superb, making it enjoyable for long trips. I think it’s so great that I’m teaching my kids how to drive in it.
