Undergirding all of your comments is, “it’s too engaging and profitable” over there, the trade-offs are not worth it to me. Yes, no one needs a censorship resistant protocol in the U.S. because the centralized one with more of a network effect basically works. Edge cases where censorship happens get complained about over here for sympathy points but everyone goes back eventually.
