It was an interesting chat and roundtable. You’re right to question it as a model for music certainly, it’s not proven to be any better yet. It tends the price of a song to zero. And the earnings so far are a bit skewed by the ‘audience’ being made up very generous people who want to see it succeed. As was said in the roundtable, they’re not the real audience yet, as in just music fans from the general public.
As was said, I think the songs earning best get played in the Bitcoin podcasts and also, I can’t prove this, but think that is maybe audience members streaming a number of sats per minute in a podcast 2.0 app. I’ve heard some V4V purists say streaming is not V4V you should get it free and choose what to pay but I disagree with that. To me, people setting a streaming rate are putting a value on their own time so they don’t waste it.
