"content": "The journalist was a co-owner of the newspaper, an elderly lady of 98 years who died the next day from the stress of the police raid.\n\nWorst part, IMHO, is that this was all a result of a local business owner who didn't want it coming out that she was caught drunk driving, so waged war with the paper with the backing of the local police who supported her. The newspaper had not published nor planned on publishing anything about her.\n\n#journalism \n\nhttps://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2023/aug/15/joan-meyer-co-owner-kansas-paper-police-raid\n\nhttps://www.npr.org/2023/08/14/1193676139/newspaper-marion-county-kansas-police-raid-first-amendment\n\nhttps://cdn.mastdn.ca/media_attachments/files/110/894/422/912/646/892/original/ccf12e4ffea83e8a.png",
