I was considering Delta Chat as an alternative e-mail client after the Mozilla fiasco. My e-mail client is, at the moment, Thunderbird. I already moved from Firefox, I just need a new e-mail client, so, Delta could work for me like Signal worked as a SMS messaging app in the past, but for e-mail, then, if someone actually uses Delta, messages would be encrypted, otherwise, business as usual. Although, in the last years, I don't remember using e-mail a lot for person-to-person messaging, last time it was my teacher asking for some documents to be sent on his .edu e-mail, but just that, most e-mail I exchange is machine-to-person transactional email, and I don't expect those kind of e-mail to ever use Delta Chat.
