You can tell by this how GDP increasing doesn't mean people lifestyle and conditions getting better.
Croatia introduced the €uro in 2020 and since then price of real estate and or services skyrocketed 4/5 times. Salaries almost doubled on average but of course the purchasing power collapsed.
Home per sq meter in a touristic place can be over 7/8k sq meter for a place you have to still refurbish.. because eventually for 6/8 months you can rent each room for 150/250€ a night or more in certain cases.
Croatia doesn't have an industrial complex so the GDP comes mostly from housing and tourism.. who can raise price in hospitality is doing so constantly every year but reaching a point of stall where locals now have changed they lifestyle as they can't afford what they were used to.
I saw it happening first hand in Italy two decades ago when Euro was introduced there, was quite similar, not as fast. Same result.. it's sad to see.
