What the DuckStation license change truly hurts is preservation.
We can't defend that copyright stops when preservation begins — the PS1 is arguably old enough for this — and then put emulator source code under non-opensource licenses.
Chinese vendors shouldn't be violating licenses, and no one should be profiting from ROMs. But no one should be limited from modifying (and distributing) the code that runs those ROMs.
