it's an interesting comparison: I have M2 max 16" with 96GB of RAM and 2TB nvme. A very strong machine by any standard. My 13" framework is a core ultra 1 125H with the same amount of ram and smaller nvme (1TB) - both aftermarket upgrades done at a very low cost (about $300 US maybe).
Both systems run Fedora to make the comparison interesting.
The M2 max is way faster, has less fan noise. It does not suspend well in Linux (drains battery fast overnight). Kernel page size is annoying.
