Yeah, probably because I meant shouldn't VOLUNTARY caloric restriction, i.e. fasting on purpose, produce the same response? I mean, is there a difference, physiologically, between involuntary fasting, which we call starving, and voluntary fasting, which could be considered dieting? At least in this respect? It seems caloric restriction is good for longevity, no matter how it's achieved. Until you go too far, Solzhenitsyn style?
