Last April I asked all my students of Spanish as foreign language wether their country celebrated Workers day on May, 1st. All of them (not only those from the communist China, but also those from Morocco, Bangladesh, Brazil...) agreed they had that holiday to commemorate the death of Chicago workers.
No one was from the States, the only country I know that celebrates #labourday on September.
