What screws up a lot of people is that when Christianity was trying to convert Europe, they morphed many of the ancestral traditions into Christian holidays to ease the people into the transition. One great example is Ostara, which was always a fertility rite because of Spring. Look at Easter today: chicks, eggs, bunnies, blossoms, etc. For the Germanic Rite, the tried to make Odin into God, Loki had to be The Devil (because need an "adversary") and Balder became like a Weeping Jesus. The Christianity that so many of /ourguys/ push is this synthesis without realizing it's origins.
