They do, but last I looked there wasn't a lot of them to choose from. And yeah, of course they are for professional use — that's the only use case IMO to justify an external sound card.
I know, it's popular among geeks to use an "external DAC", spend a good amount of money on headphones (still less than you would shell out for a decent set of speakers and amp) and think you're enjoying great audio. But I've never approved of it, using headphones for extensive periods is extremely tiring — I did mixing in headphones and although with breaks, it might have lasted for days, so I know precisely what I'm talking about here.
I'm for extremes here: either you go all the way and spend an even greater amount of money on real amp, speakers and all that — even if it won't be the same level as your $800 headphones, it would still be better; or you don't waste time on that at all, get a pair of low impedance HD515-grade headphones and use them with your integrated card.
